World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also increase bonuses such as crit chance and PvE damage.
For example, a weapon with the upgrade template ending in % will take on 3% attack damage every time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item increases as it reaches the current level of the item. The cost rises with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons, and trinkets to give an extra stat boost or effect when they're used. They can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment with a slot for them. The item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level in order for the component to be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied only once. They are not able to be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and Enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascended equipment, as well in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade can have a prefix or suffix, modifying the name of the equipment to the upgrade (for instance 'Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Glyphs

Leveling

Each level of item requires different components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.
Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or bought from NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns some Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrading an item. Once enough points are earned you will be able to claim the upgrade and also receive the bonuses.
When the player upgrades an item to a higher level, the original item is replaced with a different item of the same kind. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item will also have its own set bonus. This could be a drawback, as the item can become more expensive even if you don't require it.
The upgrades to items can be rerolled if the player has enough tokens to be able to do this. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a brand new one, with a level 1 base and a completely different set of bonuses. This can be useful for certain items, but it's not something that should be performed frequently, since it can waste many resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled several times which increases their value and allowing the player to customize their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides a buff if the player is repeatedly in or exits the water. Requirements

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item are dependent on its rarity score and upgrade slot count. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to its value. For instance an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades at a cost. 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will come with a much lower cost for each additional upgrade.
Premium items could have different upgrade requirements than regular gear. For example, they may need fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. Regardless, the player will need to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. Each upgrade to equipment requires different amounts of upgrade ingredients in addition to the expenses mentioned above.
